We just started a new tradition this year. The “Elf on the Shelf!” So far he’s a HUGE hit with our 2 1/2 year old!

With two little ones, we’re still also trying to figure out our traditions. One that I started with Jackson was to read ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas by the tree on Christmas Eve. Since he is 3 now and understands that Christmas is Jesus’ birthday, I think I might start the tradition of having birthday cake (or cupcakes) and singing Happy Birthday to Jesus after dinner on Christmas Eve I’m all about the free Starbucks – great idea!!

I actually started a new tradition. Every year, I will “pay it forward” by doing free photography sessions for those in need. This week I did it for a classroom of special needs children (for their families). It’s a surprise for the parents — I can’t wait for them to see the pictures!

Fun story about Sturbucks! Our favorite traditions are having a holiday party with a group of close friends (five families) a week before Christmas. We draw secret santas around Thanksgiving, and exchange gifts at the party! My mom always makes popovers Christmas morning, and I can’t wait to continue the tradition with Carys!

My favorite tradition is Christmas morning- after all the presents are opened (when we go to my parents’ for christmas morning- every other year) we have breakfast. My mom makes this soufle thing from eggs, milk, bread and saussage- it’s SO good, and we have english muffins and whatnot as well. That’s something that if I don’t do, it doesn’t feel like Christmas. Oh- and Christmas Eve’s candelight service- lighting the candles and singing “silent night”- I LOVE how pretty it is with all the people light up by candlelight and the church etc.

Fun idea! My mom is one of 11 we have a HUGE family. Every Christmas Eve, everyone gathers at my grandma’s house for dinner, drinks, and to hang the stockings. Each family leads the group in a Christmas carol and then hangs their stocking. They go in birth order and by the time we get to the end of the line it always gets pretty interesting. Very cheesy and very fun!
